To be clear, I love Every. Stick. Of. This. House.
However, there are still some things I would change...

About the Episode:
Brandon and I have renovated every bit of this house ourselves, which means we got to do it all the way WE wanted to. So you would think that everything is done exactly the way we wanted it. Right? Well, not exactly. There are still some, let’s say, mistakes that I wish we had done differently in this house.
In this episode, you’ll hear:
- My soapbox advocacy for saving old windows if you have them
- Why half an inch is all it takes to have tedious door-related drama
- How the third time’s the charm with trim materials in this house
And so much more!

Some of Our Mistakes:
Old Windows vs What We Chose: The original windows were 1/1 (read “one over one”) style windows. I didn’t know that until we had already started putting in these new 2/2 windows! Shame on me!

Master Bedroom Fireplace: I should have held out fixing this fireplace opening until I found the perfect cast iron insert!

Mudroom Doors: These two doors interfere by 1/8″! We should have over the door with the window to the left by 1/2″ when we rebuilt this room.

Kitchen Windows: That center bar in the lower sash is a bit annoying to look through when you’re standing at the sink! I should have made these windows 2/1 instead of 2/2.
