What good is a renovated Victorian house if you aren’t enjoying it?! Join me for some daily old house life in our Victorian farmhouse.

I always wondered what people did in those YouTuber day in the life videos. Now I guess here I am sharing (one of) my daily routines. It changes every day honestly, but that’s part of the fun!
As I mentioned, every day is different. Mondays are usually filming days. Tuesdays are editing days. Thursdays are blog days. It changes all the time…and that’s before you add the fifteen-thousand things that pop up on top of it. But part of old house life – and life in general – is trying to create some sort of structure wherever we can!
I can break down my activities into roughly three different categories. Fortunately on this particular day I managed to squeeze in all three!
- HAVE to Do
- SHOULD Do
- WANT to Do
You can watch the full video here. Or read below for an outline of each activity!
Daily Life: What I HAVE to do
I’m a bit of a commitment-phobe to be completely honest. I hate routines and schedules, so I almost always find a way to NOT do routine boring things. Some days though…you just have to.
On this particular day in the life, I had to film something. Obviously, I’m here to create content, and part of that is…well…creating content.

Mondays, when this video was filmed, are usually film days because that gives me enough time to edit before Friday’s release. As a master multi-tasker though, why invent something to film when you can just…film something you should do??
Something I Should Do
Remember when we set a pretty table in the dining room? Oh, that was fun!! And then…I left it up for two weeks because setting up things is INFINITELY more exciting than taking them down, am I right?

However I have an idea for an upcoming video that involves my glorious wake table, so I need this table clear. What does Paige do? We do something we SHOULD do while doing something I have to do! I filmed clearing off the table (in a fancy pants way, of course).
I don’t entirely have a concept for next week’s video but hey, old house life involves improvisation. At least I got some good footage! This works for me!
Old House Life: Something I Want to Do
All work and no play makes Paige into a bit of a rage monster. ? Maybe I put too much emphasis on it, but I get REALLY grumpy if I don’t do at least one thing I want to each day. And today? That was clearing out the next room for renovation.

We’ve been stalled on the house since we finished the dining room renovation. As much as I want to believe I’m super human, old house life in the midst of renovation is NO JOKE. We just burned out. But now after our 3 month break, the itch has started again. It’s time for the next room.
We’re going to be working on the room above the kitchen. Though this was originally a standalone bedroom, we will split it into a bedroom, bathroom, and glorious book nook. It’s a bit of a weird space and it’ll always feel a bit choppy. But with a little bit of luck, I think we’ll be able to make it positively charming!
I didn’t really detail the room plans in this video or post, but if you’d like to know more, let me know! I’m sure I can make that happen.
Old House Life
This is just one day of one week of one year. Every day changes. And as you can see, the “old house” part of old house life doesn’t really make a huge difference! There are still things to be done, chores to do, rooms to fix up. Everything is just…prettier in an old house. 😀 Thanks for hanging out today. See you next time!
